| The Official Song of The Teamsters Union |
|
Let's Hail The Teamsters' Union And Sing Of It With Pride
Remember, Teamster Members Your Union's By Your Side
As Long As We're Together Our Numbers Will Increase
And This Will Be Our Motto Prosperity and Peace
Now All For One And One For All, Is Something You Have Heard
But When The Teamsters Say It, The Boys Mean Every Word
So Hail The Teamsters Union, And Shout It Loud and Clear
The Brotherhood of Teamsters, Will Always Be Right Here!

Local 2’s centennial celebration approaching
Updated
On: Sep 02, 2010 (11:02:00)
BUTTE -- Montana Teamsters Local 2 will commemorate a proud 100-year history on September 25.
It is a history that includes the tragic event that created the spirit of trade unionism that has endured in Montana to this day.
That event, the worst hard rock mining disaster ever in the United States, along with the Ludlow Massacre in Colorado in 1914, was a driving force in establishing the labor movement in the Rocky Mountain West. It is significant today that Montana and Colorado are the only true mountain states in Teamsters Joint Council 3 that are free bargaining (non right-to-work) states.
Some 168 miners were killed in the tragic mine fire, in which 3,000 feet of mine shaft suddenly became a raging inferno.
As one of the first local unions ever charted in the United States, Local 2, along with Local 190 in Billings, has historically been an active leader in the state?s labor community for a century, a century that will be celebrated on September 25.
Dan Doogan, secretary-treasurer of Local 2, said invitations for the centennial celebration in Butte should have been received by all members and retirees in good standing. Members who haven't received an invitation should contact their local office if they wish to attend.
The deadline to request tickets is September 18. Seating for the dinner is limited. There are local gatherings planned as well for the following places and times:
- Missoula -- August 18 at Franklin Park , 4p.m-7p.m.
- Bozeman -- August 28 at East Gallatin Recreation area, 3:30 p.m.-10 p.m.
- Havre -- August 31 at Pepin Park 3 p.m.-8 p.m.
- Great Falls -- September 9 at the Great Falls Labor Temple, 3 p.m.-9 p.m.
- Kalispell -- September 15 at Lawrence Park, 4 p.m.-7 p.m.
- Butte -- September 25: Open House at Butte Teamsters Hall, 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
- Grand Finale Dinner (RSVP Required) at the Star Lanes Event Center 6 p.m.-midnight with a no host cocktail; bar and appetizers starting at 5 p.m.
